{"id":458,"date":"2017-09-23T22:04:20","date_gmt":"2017-09-23T22:04:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cicakraus.com\/?p=458"},"modified":"2021-10-03T22:05:53","modified_gmt":"2021-10-03T22:05:53","slug":"nine-of-the-28-applicants-for-the-gran-canaria-auditions-go-on-to-the-semi-final-of-vi-concurso-internacional-de-canto-alfredo-kraus","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cicakraus.com\/en\/nine-of-the-28-applicants-for-the-gran-canaria-auditions-go-on-to-the-semi-final-of-vi-concurso-internacional-de-canto-alfredo-kraus\/","title":{"rendered":"Nine of the 28 applicants for the Gran Canaria auditions go on to the semi-final of VI Concurso Internacional de Canto Alfredo Kraus"},"content":{"rendered":"<blockquote><p>\u2022 The nine candidates chosen in the Auditorio Alfredo Kraus join the seven from the Madrid round and the 12 from Florence, plus the 32 entrants who were finalists in other international competitions.<br \/>\n\u2022 The semi-final will take place on Monday 25 and Tuesday 26 in the Chamber Hall of the Auditorio Alfredo Kraus before the official jury of the competition, chaired by tenor Jaime Aragall.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><strong><em>Fundaci\u00f3n Internacional Alfredo Kraus<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0and the\u00a0<strong>Gran Canaria Cabildo<\/strong>\u00a0(Island Council), organisers of the\u00a0<em><strong>VI Concurso Internacional de Canto Alfredo Kraus<\/strong><\/em>, have announced that after the preliminary round held in Gran Canaria on Thursday 21 and Friday 22 September, with the participation of 28 applicants of 14 nationalities, the judging panel decided that nine would go on to the semi-final of the competition.<\/p>\n<p>The judging panel, comprising the Chair of Fundaci\u00f3n Internacional Alfredo Kraus and the VI CICAK,\u00a0<strong>Rosa Kraus Ley<\/strong>, the Deputy Programming Director of Auditorio Alfredo Kraus,\u00a0<strong>Manuel Ben\u00edtez Rodr\u00edguez<\/strong>, and the artistic director of the Foundation and the VI CICAK,\u00a0<strong>Mario Pontiggia<\/strong>, were responsible for the auditions of the applicants, who were accompanied by maestro\u00a0<strong>Juan Francisco Parra<\/strong>, official pianist for the competition.<\/p>\n<p>After the auditions, the panel cast its vote and considered nine applicants, in the following order, eligible to go on to the semi-final round, to be held before the official jury of the competition on Monday 25 and Tuesday 26 September: 1 \/\u00a0<strong>Carlos Alberto VELAZQUEZ ACU\u00d1A<\/strong>\u00a0(Tenor \/ Mexico) \u2013 2 \/\u00a0<strong>Nina-Maria FISCHER<\/strong>\u00a0(Soprano \/ Germany-Poland) \u2013 3 \/\u00a0<strong>Jasper LEEVER<\/strong>\u00a0(Bass-baritone \/ The Netherlands) \u2013 4 \/\u00a0<strong>M\u00f3nica SOTO-GIL CASTRO<\/strong>\u00a0(Mezzo-soprano \/ Mexico) \u2013 5 \/\u00a0<strong>Danae ELENI<\/strong>\u00a0(Soprano \/ Greece) \u2013 6 \/\u00a0<strong>Sara PAONE<\/strong>\u00a0(Mezzo-soprano \/ Italy) \u2013 7 \/\u00a0<strong>Arisbe DE LA BARRERA RAMIREZ<\/strong>\u00a0(Soprano \/ Mexico) \u2013 8\u00a0<strong>Clare GHIGO<\/strong>\u00a0(Mezzo-soprano \/ Malta) \u2013 9 \/\u00a0<strong>Jennifer RAMIREZ DIAZ<\/strong>\u00a0(Mezzo-soprano \/ Spain).<\/p>\n<p>The preliminary round in Gran Canaria is the final audition before the semi-final. The nine candidates\u00a0<strong>chosen at the Auditorio Alfredo Kraus<\/strong>\u00a0will join the\u00a0<strong>seven from the Madrid round<\/strong>\u00a0and the\u00a0<strong>12 from Florence<\/strong>. The semi-final\u00a0<strong>will also include 32 candidates who gained direct entry after finishing as finalists in other international competitions<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>After the\u00a0<strong>semi-final<\/strong>, the Symphonic Hall of the Auditorio Alfredo Kraus will be the venue on\u00a0<strong>29 September<\/strong>\u00a0for the\u00a0<strong>final round and the prize giving<\/strong>, with a public audience. The competition finalists will be accompanied at this event by the\u00a0<strong>Gran Canaria Philharmonic Orchestra<\/strong>, conducted by maestro Miguel P\u00e9rez-Sierra.\u00a0<strong>Tickets for the Final<\/strong>, to be held in the Auditorio Alfredo Kraus, are on sale at\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.auditorioteatrolaspalmasgc.es\/index_en.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">www.auditorioteatrolaspalmasgc.es<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.auditorioteatrolaspalmasgc.es\/auditorioalfredokraus\/index_en.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">www.auditorio-alfredokraus.com<\/a>, and at ticket offices at the Auditorium and Teatro P\u00e9rez Gald\u00f3s.
